My forum seems to use a load of server load about
7.00 most of the time. How an I make it more user helpful and not killing it self all the time?

The forum is very busy most of the time I have 300 people on there. and about 20.000 a day!
I switched things off like Avatars and other ideas would be cool! This load includes other sites on the server.
Is it a shared host ?What are the server specs and what type of connection is it on?No its on its own server
FreeBSD 4.3-STABLE (CWIE) #1: Wed Jul 18 16:31:37 MST 2001
Im using a cache programme to.. but it dont seem to work much.
512 ram!dunno how to check 100% but its on its own 25 mbit line so thats not it and its a p3 1000 i guess 512 ram!
The forum is bad for big sites. even winamp had probs i think!are you sure you are the only one on the server? i know of hosts that sell virtual servers running their own isolated install of FreeBSD. they sometimes advertise this as dedicated (referring to the OS itself).Sounds like you just need apache and mysql tweaked... And if you own the boxes, just upgrade the system from 512 to 1 gig, ram is cheap and well worth it....I think eva will be able to help more with this.
To be honest I wouldn't worry about the load unless it gets very big.Yeah its mines.. I own 10 servers at a hosting place!the prob is that is goes SO SLOW! really slow...sometimes I have to restart apache.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
