Chewing gum stuck to Jumper?

March 15th, 2010
  • I have chewing gum on my jumper. I was told putting it in the freezer will get it off but do you think taking it to a dry cleaners would also help?

  • If you freeze it you should be able to break it up and remove it.

  • I've never needed to try it, but I've heard that sticking it in the freezer is the best way (unless you've tried to piggle it off and crushed it into the fabric).

I hate the flippin' stuff. Years back, I remember treading on some as I walked along the aisle on a school bus trip (I was the teacher!) and I went absolutely mental! "WHO, WHOOOOOOOO is the revolting little puddle of slime who has spit their chewing gum out RIGHT HERE!!!!" (or words to that effect). Believe it or not, the 'puddle of slime' owned up and spent the entire trip piggling chewing gum out of the tread of my trainer!!!!!

I HAVE THE POWERRRRRRRRRRR!!!!! Heh heh!

  • If you put it into the freezer it will make the gum hard enough to crack and then just pick it off.

  • Yes, it will help... Or if it dosen't work try putting ice on it... It freezes so all the stickyness is gone, and its easier to pull off.

  • not really since they cant do anymore than you, dry it out in the freezer and then you can just scrape it off.

  • cheaper to stick it in the freezer : )

  • I don't think Dry Cleaners will want to go through all the work to get the gum off, unless you're a steady customer. However, there are solvents you can buy that are very effective in getting all sorts of sticky messes out of your clothes. I use a product called "Goo Gone."
