Ajax quick reply question

March 15th, 2010
  • I am having quick reply issues that have me stumped. I am trying to troubleshoot a few plugins and my custom template and here is what I have found so far.

Plugin system totally disabled and quick reply works perfectly in both my custom templates and default.

Enable plugin system, half of my pulgins are disabled because they don't work in either the default skin or my custom skin. (only minimally modified from the original) Quick reply works perfectly in default with the select set that seem to coexist. In my custom skin quick reply says "The following errors occurred when this message was submitted" but there is no error listed and then it says okay and my post still shows in the post box. If I reload the post shows that it has been posted properly. The main difference that I can see between the default postbit legacy and mine is I have the user info under the avatar in a collapsible box. I am thinking the java there is conflicting but not sure how. Another thing that has me stumped is one of the plugins that seems to cause issues is a simple template cache plugin that I made to cache a few custom ad templates. I don't know why that would affect quick reply.

If I set the system to disable problematic ajax then quick reply seems to work in both skins.

I know plugins are unsupported but I am stumped as to which way to go now to figure out what might have changed between 3.5.4 and 3.6 b3 or even between 3.6 b2 and b3 because the problem seems to have gotten worse since I upgraded to b3. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Update: I think I have the problem figured out. My test site was running php in cgi mode. Once that was turned off the ajax started working even with the plugins all turned on and all ajax enabled.
